2026 MSBOA Outstanding Soloist Competition: Schedule and Information

You MUST check in as soon as you arrive. Check-In begins at 7:30 am for the first round of auditions . The check-in table is in front of Room 110 (marked on the map in yellow).
The audition to select the four soloists will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Eastern Michigan University (Alexander Music Building). The schedule for the first round of auditions is linked above. Please honor the scheduled times. We have built the schedule around those accompanists that have multiple students and it is very “tight” with no room for adjusting the times. Soloists that show up late will forfeit their audition, “No Exceptions”.
Free parking will be available in the lot on the east side of the building all day. (See Map of the Campus). Additional parking (for a fee) can be found next to Pease Auditorium. (See Map of the Campus)
The first round of Auditions will take place between 8:10 am. and 12:30 pm. Please consult the linked schedule above. It is recommended that you reach out to your accompanist immediately to inform them of the schedule as well.
The 10-16 semi-finalists will be announced at approximately 12:40 pm in Room 105.
The semi-finalists will have their picture taken and then draw for the performance order immediately after being announced. The 2nd and final round will begin at 1:45 p.m.
As the semi-finalists draw a number to determine the order of the 2nd round performances, they will need to present 2 copies of the music for the adjudicactors (one of the copies must be an original, the other may be a photocopy).
The four (4) winners of the MSBOA Outstanding Soloist Competition will be invited to perform on Friday, May 8, 2026 on the Campus of Oakland University, Varner Hall. More information to follow.
This day of auditions is certainly a highlight in the MSBOA year as the finest soloists display their talents. Congratulations to all for simply making it to this point!
