The Edwin W. Tower Memorial Scholarship Fund

PAUL STANIFER

Edwin W. Tower was appointed the Executive Director of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association in 1977, after many successful years teaching instrumental music. Ed was known for his intelligence, leadership, expertise and humor, but beyond those qualities his vision and commitment to the music education of future were unique. MSBOA flourished during his fifteen-year tenure.

In 1993 the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association established the Edwin W. Tower Memorial Scholarship Fund which, at the request of the Tower family, is awarded to MSBOA members wishing to pursue further study in the areas of "Electronic or Technology-Assisted Music Education, its influence and place in the curriculum" and/or "the development of Unified Arts Education."

The fund accepts donations from all sources: individuals, MSBOA districts, foundations, and industry. Contributions will be invested and the interest will determine the awards available. All moneys received become part of the principal and continue to earn to assure continued growth of the fund.
