PAUL STANIFER

Beginning December 1, 1997, MSBOA will join the Internet on the World Wide Web (WWW). The introduction of the MSBOA Web site will promote the organization and assist in dissemination of information to members through the Internet.

The site will include many documents from the Yearbook including forms, instructions, Basic Music List, and will include general contact information for all of the districts. The district and state calendar will display activities, deadline dates, meetings and the many things MSBOA members are involved with. Additionally, the MICHIGAN MUSICTECH newsletter, currently published on-line, will be brought into the site. This stage should be completed before the end of the year.

The second phase of construction will appear in the Winter of 1998 and will make all Festival schedules available on-line by district within a few hours of their completion. Printed copies will follow in the mail as is currently done. Sound clips and other multimedia files will be added as appropriate.

The web site is located at http://www.msboa.organd hosted by the University of Michigan's Information Technology Division (ITD) on the Ann Arbor campus.

Many thanks to Christopher Balk and Jeff Kopmanis for volunteering their time and expertise in bringing the MSBOA onto the Internet. Both Christopher and Jeff were involved in public school music programs and continue to play as an avocation. Christopher is a Senior Computer Consultant with Software Spectrum and Jeff is a Systems Analyst with the U-M Artificial Intelligence Lab

Take a few minutes to pull up the "NEW MSBOA Web Site" and find your district's president, calendar, our rules and guidelines, our exciting music technology space and the many other things that are going on within The Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association.

This is an exciting time in the history of MSBOA. See you on the Web!
